Junk MattersYou Matter - We Matter - Junk MattersAt a glance
Junk removal in Nanaimo starts at $125, and because we are based right here in Nanaimo rather than an hour down the highway, we can often get to a job quickly. Text a photo of the pile and you get a free estimate back quickly, and the final number reflects what actually goes in the trailer. One call clears a single item or a whole house.
Furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, hot tubs, pianos, yard waste, renovation debris: if two of us can lift it, it goes on the trailer. We clear garages, basements and storage units, and we handle the big jobs too, estate cleanouts, hoarding situations and full property clearouts, with the care those deserve. Nanaimo is our home turf, which is why most jobs here happen as soon as we have availability.

BeforeAfterA cross-section of everyday Nanaimo work: bagged household junk, driveway piles and full trailer loads, all cleared with donation and recycling sorted first.

When you call (250) 802-6683 you reach the people who show up, not a call centre. Junk Matters is based right here in Nanaimo, open 7 days from 6am to 8pm, and rated 5.0 across 130+ Google reviews. The load price covers the lifting, hauling, disposal fees, taxes and a sweep up after, and the final number is worked out from the volume and material actually loaded. You Matter, We Matter, Junk Matters.
Four steps, start to finish. It is the same process whether you are a homeowner, a landlord, a property manager or a contractor clearing a site.
First, the free estimate: call, text, or send photos of the pile and we will come back to you with a number. Second, we arrive at the time we booked with you. Third, the crew does every bit of the lifting and hauling, from wherever the junk sits. Fourth, everything gets sorted: recycled, donated, or disposed of responsibly, and the space gets swept before we leave.
Pricing is based on volume, so you pay for the space your items take up in the trailer. The load price covers loading, hauling, disposal and cleanup, with the first hour of labour included. The final charge is worked out from the volume and material actually loaded, and anything that would change the estimate is raised with you rather than added at the end.
Each of these is its own trailer-load of detail: what is included, how that specific job gets priced, what we do with the material afterwards, and photos of real Nanaimo work. Follow whichever matches what you need gone.
From the ferry terminal to the airport side of town, the whole city is home turf. Wherever you are in Nanaimo, the trailer has been on your street before.
You pay for trailer space, not time. You get a free estimate before anything gets loaded, and the load price covers the lifting, hauling, disposal fees and a sweep up after. Final pricing is based on actual loaded volume, with weight, labour and applicable surcharges considered, and travel can apply the further out you are. Full details on the pricing page.

Straight answers, the same ones we give on the phone.
The minimum pickup is $125, a quarter of the 15-yard trailer is $300, a half is $500, three quarters is $675 and a full load is $850. That price includes the lifting, hauling, disposal fees, taxes and a sweep up after, with the first hour of labour built in. You get a free estimate before we load anything, and the final charge reflects what actually goes in the trailer. Extra charges can apply for weight, specialty items, access or travel, so ask us about your specific situation and we will lay it out before anything is booked.
As soon as we have availability. Being based in town means a Nanaimo pickup is a short drive rather than a scheduled route, so ask us what we have open when you call. Texting a photo of the pile gets you an estimate back quickly, and we are open 7 days from 6am to 8pm.
We are owned and operated here in Nanaimo, so the person quoting your job is the person loading the trailer. Our pricing is posted, and you get an estimate before we lift. Travel and fuel surcharges can apply and increase the further a job sits from Nanaimo, and any surcharge is quoted before the work rather than added at the end. And donation comes first: usable furniture and goods go to local charities before anything heads to the landfill, because your junk matters to us.
Almost everything: furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, yard waste, construction debris, hot tubs, pianos and general household junk. The few exceptions are things requiring special handling, like tires and propane tanks, which may carry a small surcharge, and hazardous or contaminated material, which is its own service with its own crew and gear. When in doubt, text a photo and ask.
Donation and recycling first, landfill last. Usable furniture, appliances and household goods go to local Nanaimo charities, metals and electronics go to recyclers, and green waste gets composted. The landfill is the last stop, only for what genuinely has no other home.
No. We take it from wherever it is sitting: upstairs bedrooms, basements, crawlspaces, the garage or the back of the yard. Nothing needs to be bagged, sorted or dragged to the curb first, and you do not need to be able to lift. If piling it up makes you feel organised then go ahead, though the price follows the volume either way.
The load price covers lifting, hauling, disposal fees, taxes and the first hour of labour. Additional labour beyond that first hour is $100 per hour, per load. Some items carry specialty disposal charges: mattresses and box springs, tires, propane tanks, unusually heavy materials and appliances needing special handling. Anything we can see up front is identified before we begin, and if something only becomes clear once we are working, we raise it with you at the time rather than adding it at the end. Additions can apply depending on the items, the weight, the access and the location, so send us the details and we will go through your specific situation.
Yes. Junk Matters is fully insured, registered and in good standing with WorkSafeBC, and a member of both the Recycling Council of British Columbia and the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce. We are rated 5.0 across 130+ Google reviews, and every crew member works in your home to that standard.
Often, yes, though it depends on what the day already holds. Our yard is here in Nanaimo rather than an hour down the highway, so call or text and ask what we have open. We are open 7 days a week, 6am to 8pm, and short-notice jobs are welcome.
The first hour of labour is included in the load price. Beyond that, additional labour is $100 per hour, per load. That comes up on jobs spread over several floors, long carries from the truck, or items that need heavy sorting or taking apart before they will move. Anything like that is talked through at the estimate where the conditions are known, and raised with you on the day if it only becomes clear once we are working. Depending on the items, their weight, the access and where you are, additional charges can apply. Tell us what you have and we will walk through your situation first.
